Blog Ethics

We encourage open debate in and about the media and welcome contributions.

Cox Media will act as a thought provoker on some issues and as a content aggregator on others.

You do not have to agree with our views, for that matter contrary views are probably of far more value, however you will be required to comply with our blog ethics.

We will attempt to read all contributions and will publish most contributions that are made in good faith whether they are supportive or opposing the views of Cox Media Insights.

However, we believe that the contributor has a number of responsibilities including:

  1. Honesty, fairness, accuracy and disclosure of all basic facts
  2. Do not plagiarise but attribute sources and quotations
  3. You do not have to publish under your own name but you will be required to provide us with your real identity which we will keep confidential at your request
  4. Disclose conflicts of interest such as political affiliations, employment or client relationships
  5. Please do not make personal attacks on Cox Media Insights or other contributors

We reserve the right to edit or refuse to publish any contribution.

Finally, we will correct errors of fact as soon as possible by either Cox Media Insights or contributors.

Cox Media believe that the “Media Alliance Code Of Ethics” as published on their website is a good guide to the code of ethics to be persued by Cox Media Insights. Cox Media are not a member of the Media Alliance.
